BRIDAL JEWELLERY GUIDE

THINGS TO CONSIDER

Finding a bridal piece that's right for you can be overwhelming. The perfect piece for you will beautifully reflect your long term commitment to your love, as you begin your journey together. When you embark on your engagement ring journey you will hear a lot of traditional ‘rules’ to follow. Shifting these old paradigms will enable you to walk your own path. Ask yourself, what resonates with me, and properly reflects the unique and beautiful traits of your love commitment?

Lifestyle

Your lifestyle is also something to consider when selecting a piece. For those with active lifestyles, a lower profile piece will reduce the risk of knocking your ring and potentially losing a stone. If you’re drawn towards larger centre stones then make it a practice to remove your ring(s) before engaging in activities that are hard on your hands. For those who use their hands a lot, combining a beautiful band with another to make a complementary duo is a beautiful option. Low profile stone settings equal lower risk of losing stones, and they are always more comfortable to wear.

Diamonds

Cut, colour, clarity and carat denote a diamonds value and rarity. You can’t go wrong with diamonds, they’re well established as being the hardest on the Mohs scale. Diamonds are classic, beautiful, long-lasting and they sparkle. Diamonds are diverse and varied in cut and colour, there are a lot to choose from, so here is a bit of a guide.

COLOuRED STONES

If diamonds aren’t your thing but you want a stone that can endure some wear and tear, sapphires or rubies are next after diamonds in terms of hardness on the Mohs scale. These vibrant stones are the perfect mix of alternative but practical. Choosing these stones will mean they can stay with you for a lifetime.

Emeralds, opals, and pearls are all beautiful but need to be treated with much more care if they’re worn daily. These stones are softer, more sensitive to their environment and each has their idiosyncrasies. For more in-depth information, please see our jewellery care guide here.

METAL

All of our bridal jewellery pieces are made in 9K and 18K yellow, white, or rose gold. We can also custom-make pieces in platinum on request. These metals have integrity, they can endure wear and tear, and if taken care of properly should last lifetimes.
