Diamonds
The 4 C’s, cut, colour, clarity and carat, denote a diamond’s value and rarity. You can’t go wrong with diamonds, diamonds are classic, beautiful and long-lasting. Being the hardest stone on the Mohs scale, they are durable, and will stand the test of time. Diamonds are diverse and varied in cut and colour. There are a lot to choose from.
Here is a bit of a guide:
Cut
The brilliance of a diamond is largely determined by its cut. A perfectly cut diamond, with perfect symmetry, and facet alignment will reflect light beautifully creating sparkling brilliance.
Colour
Diamonds exist on a scale of many different shades, ranging from brilliant white to light yellow. Diamonds are graded from D (colourless) to Z (light yellow).
Clarity
Every diamond is unique. Diamond clarity is a grading based on visual appearance. During the natural formation process of a diamond, other minerals or crystals may be present, which can disrupt the refraction of light through the stone, these are called inclusions. The fewer inclusions and blemishes a diamond has, the better the clarity grade.
Carat
Carats are the measure of weight for all diamonds. The higher the carat weight, the higher the value. We believe that small and perfectly formed is a good rule of thumb. A better quality of diamond is always best, whatever the weight.
Shape
Diamonds come in a wide variety of shapes. Whatever shape you choose, a diamond will always look stunning.
