AQUAMARINE

Aquamarine is a member of the beryl family, with sister stones like emerald and morganite. The name comes from two latin words, aqua marinus, and means “water of the sea”, which refers to its greenish-blue colour. It’s known for its wonderful clarity.

It was used as a gem in Greece as far back as 300 B.C., and because of its colour, is sometimes mistakenly referred to as gold topaz, madeira or spanish topaz, or safranite.

The only colour variant sapphire can not be seen as is red because red corundum is ruby.
